IDC is looking for a Research Director to lead the European Services Research and to develop, articulate and drive the research of IDC's core European Services program as well as make a significant contribution to custom market consulting projects.
This role presents an opportunity to head our European Services team, and to influence the direction of the IT services industry in Europe. You will set the research agenda, vision and direction of the team, as well as being the outward face of IDC services research in Europe.

The successful candidate will also be expected to play a lead role in participating and driving growth in European Services executive virtual round tables and Executive Dinners.
This position is a leadership position within IDC's European ICT research team. This position calls for an individual with excellent communication, management, presentation and writing skills, allied to good numeric and analytic skills. We seek a quick and creative thinker with deep curiosity about developments in the IT Services market, someone who can lead and motivate a team, as well as collaborate effectively across the broader organization.
You will have at least 10 years in an analyst role, or possibly in a technology/business consulting firm, in the market intelligence or product marketing division of an IT supplier / System Integrator, or with a major technology user company.. You will have a broad understanding of the entire IT services industry in Europe, with exposure to a cross section of IT technologies across IT Services sub-domain areas (Systems Integration, IT consulting, Managed Services, Deploy and Support).

We envisage that this role will be based in London. However, we will accept applications from exceptional candidates outside the UK and able to work in IDC’s office in Prague, Milan, Copenhagen, Frankfurt or Munich.
The application process
The selection process will take place in several phases, starting with several initial telephone-based discussions before progressing to a first formal interview at IDC's offices or by videoconference. At this stage candidates will be required to submit an example of analytical writing, based on a topic provided. A second formal interview will complete the process, during which candidates will demonstrate their presentation skills.
