Direct contributions as an analyst, via primary analysis and report writing, on research produced within the Malaysia IT services group. You will be required to produce documents using IDC methodology, taxonomy and formats, focused on, but not limited to, the following areas:


-    Market and Competitive Analyses                     

-    User Demands and Preferences

-    Technology Trends and Predictions                   

-    Business Models & Practices

-    Data Trackers                                                          

-    Client Presentations


Analysis and Research:

  • Tracking, analyzing and market sizing of the domain market on a regular (e.g. monthly, quarterly) basis
  • Data analysis including collection, entry, processing and maintenance of databases for regional research programs
  • Report writing via consolidation of primary research conducted via interviews
  • Creating and maintaining research databases
  • Coordination & collaboration with domain specialists within IDC on constructing reports and research at the sub-regional and regional levels
  • Participation in, or contributions to local or regional consulting projects
  • Questionnaire design and execution
  • Presentation of findings to IDC clients
  • Answer client inquiries and track client interactions in the IDC database
  • Assist and co-produce press releases, media queries and appearances


Consulting Projects:

  • Contributing to local, sub-regional, and regional projects
  • Keeping current with industry trends and new research, locally and globally
  • Provide support to SEA regional and global consulting/ custom research
  • Ownership of custom research project workflow, ranging from support for business development, proposal generation, through analysis and project fulfillment
  • Coordinating and conducting all aspects of research on each project including running primary research, data gathering, analysis and processing, report writing and presentation
  • Project management coordination between multiple countries and departments


Business Development:

  • Support of IDC Asia Pacific business development efforts locally and in the region
  • Present to customers as well as in industry conferences/events
  • Support during Sales presentations


  • The successful candidate will have a hands on understanding of the drivers, outcomes and competitive environment for the ICT market, particularly for the successful transitioning from 2nd to 3rd platform technologies and has a strong knowledge of the ICT industry dynamics. An ability to develop strong analysis, insights and recommendations based on research and communicating information is essential.
  • Compilation and delivery of succinct and high quality of qualitative and quantitative reports on a regular basis
  • Active involvement with the consulting team on consulting projects for the A/P technology services market
  • Client–facing presentations, speaking engagements, telephone/ face-to-face consultations and attending vendor briefings
  • Visibility at IDC and industry events or media appearances
  • Support business development efforts to establish the client base by working closely with supporting analysts and sales team
  • The analyst will need to develop into an authority on the software industry
  • Speak English proficiently
  • Individuals with a minimum 5 years job experience in a market research firm, an IT consulting and integration firm, or within a vendor organization.
  • Minimum university or college degree, BA, BSc or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills absolutely essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience of having worked in a multi-cultural environment will be a key advantage
  • Ability to develop, maintain and strengthen strong relationships with peers and external people such as customers
  • Excellent time management skills while at the same time able to effectively multi-task
