Overview

The Research Director role is responsible for our syndicated research, relationships with our strategic clients, and domain expertise of manufacturers' delivery of ecosystem services.  The role includes supporting our primary and secondary research efforts, business development, events and consulting projects related to our coverage of service and customer interactions primarily on industry 4.0 ecosystem strategies, digital factory and digital supply chains, automation and collaboration on both the supply and commerce side of manufacturing ecosystems, opportunities to form new broader ecosystems for their products & services (for example connected vehicles), and in general, applying technologies to deliver ecosystem services and manage assets and other resources. The Research Director is a manufacturing industry expert and thought leader on products platforms, customer experience, digital transformation and innovation accelerators (for example IoT, AI/analytics, Robotics).

We are looking for a person to lead a team of analysts, drive business growth and client service through thought leadership and bringing entrepreneurship as part of the company goal to innovate and differentiate.

Responsibilities

  • Transformation of B2B2C Relationships in Manufacturing Business Ecosystems. Current coverage includes Next Generation Automation and Collaboration in Manufacturing Business Ecosystems, manufacturing ecosystems maturity benchmarks, B2B Manufacturing Digital Commerce Applications assessments, B2B Commerce strategies in manufacturing business ecosystems, manufacturing ecosystem platforms in discrete manufacturing and CPG, next generation industrial technology.
  • Business processes and challenges in manufacturing segments including automotive, aerospace, high-tech equipment, industrial machinery, contract manufacturing, consumer electronics, CPG and other segments.

Research and Analysis Includes:

 

  • Ability to clearly communicate and report analysis and tell our clients what findings mean to their business, including speaking at events or delivering strategic workshops.
  • Ability to forecast and publish timely changes to market conditions and ensure research remains relevant to clients by updating research agendas
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in research creation, accuracy, and interpretation                              
  • Data Collection using appropriate sources, engaging with industry, and validating and crossing checking to ensure data maps into established research taxonomy
  • Ability to write timely market/competitive analysis/predictions research

 

Business Development/ Program Growth

  • Revenue retention and growth - build strong relationships with client base
  • Explore revenue opportunities in other types of revenue (honorarium, report sales, consulting, events) that is supported by domain expertise
  • Contribution to the financial success of the group
  • Expense management
  • Collaborates with sales and marketing on campaigns that supports sales process
  • Identifies new clients and coverage opportunities for the team
  • Demonstrates ability to develop new products, services and initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA a plus
  • 10+ years of previous market research experience and/or consulting experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Demonstrated public speaking and presentation skills
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for client inquiry and internal collaboration
  • Excellent documentation skills along with verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to clearly communicate and report data analysis
  • Demonstrated ability in working under pressure and completing deadlines
  • Exhibits industry presence and Thought Leadership                                             
  • Ability to travel, including customer conferences and industry events
  • Writes documents that are actionable and relevant for the target audience
  • Ability and interest in collaborating in a global environment and cross-functional team
