Research Manager - Telecoms

The Prague regional HQ of IDC Central Europe (CEE) requires a Research Manager to join its team of Telco market research specialists.


The successful candidate is required to have experience in marketing and/or business management at a telecom service provider, or consulting to those positions. He or she would preferably have business development, product management, consulting, industry analysis or market research experience. It is necessary to be a fluent English speaker. Candidates should be prepared to travel within the CEE region if necessary and be expected to work flexible hours. The position is open to candidates with 5+ years work experience. Ideally, applicants should be already based in Central Europe.

The position has an overall responsibility for the company’s service and product offering related to market research and consulting for telecom service providers. The candidate will perform business development, research management, research scoping and design, and sales and marketing support activities. She/He will participate in both syndicated and custom research on various aspects of telco solutions and markets, including telecom services, Internet of Things, cloud, Big Data, and other services of interest to telcos. Moreover, she/he will help to build internal and external visibility and awareness through presentations and webinars, support sales and client engagements, and cooperate with other functional areas within IDC, such as other research programs, events and marketing.


Responsibilities will include:

  • meeting the business goals and financial targets
  • developing the research portfolio and products
  • planning and executing business development, and coordinating operative activity, such as meeting deadlines and QA/QCs requirements associated with IDC's telecom service provider research practice

Operative tasks include:

  • quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • coordinating data collection
  • delivering research content
  • preparing consulting reports
  • writing publishable reports, and preparing presentations
  • acting as a thought leader towards customers and in marketing activities
  • developing the network of IDC within the telecoms industry
  • fostering a team environment while providing a vision for the team. This task also entails the monitoring and evaluation of employees and the definition of goals for employees in conjunction with the higher management


• Min 5 years hands on experience in the technology type of business

• Experience with business development, product, and people management
• Experience with professional writing in English
• Experience in public speaking and marketing techniques
• Native or fluent English speaker (fluency in a Central or Eastern European language is a plus)
• A University degree (such as IT or Business/Economics)
